Conservation Village
Rock The Ocean's Conservation Village
Saving our seas is the reason behind Rock The Ocean’s Tortuga Music Festival. And Conservation Village is the center of that vision — literally and figuratively. In the center of the festival grounds, we provide fans with a unique immersive experience to learn about the seas and the issues impacting them up close. We partner with global experts annually to get over 100,000 fans fired up about making an impact to protect our oceans.
We created Conservation Village to blend entertainment and education and it's our most engaging & interactive experience at the festival. And it’s completely FREE. Free to Tortuga attendees and free to our partners, because educating fans is a part of Rock The Ocean’s mission. Interactive, fun, and free - and that's what makes it the heartbeat of the festival.
What Exactly Is Conservation Village?
Big 5: Core Issue Tents
20-30 of the world's thought leaders and changemakers are invited to host a booth at the event. With their toes in the sand, they educate our fans. Fans can see live lionfish, staghorn coral, a turtle ambulance as well as interactive displays with a touch tank, shark tagging/tracking, sea turtle rescue simulation, and more.

Be sure to swing by Rock The Ocean Headquarters to shop the Rock The Ocean collection (100% of proceeds from apparel sales go to our conservation partners located right in Conservation Village!), try out our Virtual Reality Shark Dive, and see which artists will be making a surprise appearance on our stage.
Surprise Shows
The festival’s biggest stars often make surprise appearances on Rock The Ocean's stage located in Conservation Village. These superstars support the cause and even stop by to meet our conservation partners to learn about saving our oceans & marine life.
Eco Exchange
Help us keep the beach clean and win prizes! By trading trash & recycling for points, fans can earn a variety of prizes from merch to exclusive experiences to tickets for next year's festival.
Passport to Conservation
By visiting our conservation partners, fans can earn stamps to complete their Passport to Conservation while learning valuable information about the oceans and marine life. Then, fans submit their completed passport to be entered to win passes to next year's festival and/or other prizes.
Sea Oats
Rock The Ocean’s Tortuga Music Festival is committed to leaving the beach better than we found. We strive to improve the coastal habitat by planting and restoring sea oat dunes, which are vital to combat erosion. Tortuga fans, staff, volunteers and even artists have helped plant over 30,000 sea oats on Fort Lauderdale Beach - right where Tortuga is held each year!
Chill Zone
Conservation Village is the most chill spot at Tortuga. Chatting with our partners, playing cornhole, catching a surprise show, and enjoying the bar are all reasons fans hang out in our Conservation Village. Fun Fact: Our bar is staffed by Rock The Ocean volunteers helping us raise funds to donate to our Conservation Partners!
